Mountian Dew Anonymous?

My name is Leona and I'm addicted to Mountain Dew... So in the past few days I can proudly say that I have only had 3-12 oz cans of Dew and have had approximately 24 oz of water each day. I know that that is not enough fluid, however so far today I have drank 24 oz of water and working on my next 24. My goal is to reach 1/2 my body weight in oz of water at least each day with none or no more than 1-12 can of soda. To get an idea of where I am starting from, for about the past 15 years with an 18 month gap I have been drinking nothing but Mountain Dew. It had gotten to the point that I would go without drinking anything if I couldn't have Dew. Not even other sodas would do. At my worst I would go through a 12 pk in about 2 days or less. I am tired of wasting my money and my body on soda. I am tired of my kids asking daily for a can. I am tired of telling them to do as I say not as I do. I want to get to the point where I can honestly tell myself and others that I no longer drink Mountain Dew and is not in my home.  The money I could be saving is unreal: just from cans of soda in one year is about $2,496(from the cheapest store- actual number is much higher) ; from just 20 oz bottles is about $325 (from the cheapest store- actual number is much higher). So the minimum I could save in one year is $2,821. So in 15 years I could have put away is $42,315. WOW! That is a lot of money I have wasted.

I RAN!!!

OK I know that 1 mile will not solve everything. But I've heard that the journey of a thousand mile starts with a single step. So I will run again and again and will eventually reach that "thousand miles". For me that "thousand mile" is about 50lbs to start. I have finally got an addition built onto my home and now have the space to workout when the weather forces me inside. My youngest son has started to workout with me as he can. Too cute. I am hoping to influence my sons to keep moving as well so that they don't have to battle their weight like I have. My plan is to live like a kid. I remember that when I was a kid if I had to go anywhere I was running, always moving and never thinking what I looked like to others. Too bad as adults we lose that interest in self. Well until next time, keep steppin.

Stressed spelled backwards is Desserts

Ok the title says it all. I am still trying to get some weight off before it gets out of hand. However saying that, when I get stressed out I turn to food; chips and dip, sweets, leftovers. Nothing is off limits. Between going to school and home life I have been very stressed. Last time I weighed in I weighed in at 179 and that was a week ago. I knew my weight had went up but seeing those numbers were shocking. My problems are that I HATE starting a workout routine (once I'm in it I'm good for a bit), the littlest thing can throw me off my routine, and making myself find the time to workout. Eating healthy with healthy portions isn't easy for me either, but is easier than exercising. Quick meals have become the norm lately. I can feel myself being sluggish and becoming more sedentary. My mountain dew addiction is still running strong, but I have been making myself drink a couple of drinks that are not soda (coffee and juice mostly). I've mostly got this blog for myself to admit what I do that I should when it comes to my diet and weight, to write it down and get it out of my head. Now I just need to get it off my body as well.
